Join our growing practice !

We invite experienced practitioners to join our multidisciplinary practice. We offer excellent remuneration, perks and privileges depending on the experience and exposure of your abilities.

In July 2012, the Malaysian Parliament passed the Legal Profession (Amendment) Act 2012. The Act was gazetted on 20 September 2012. This new Act has paved the way for foreign law firms and foreign lawyers to practice in Malaysia as set out in the new legislation found here.
We are always on the look out for foreign practitioners to join our ranks and be part of our growing legal network.

Brijnandan Singh Bhar & Co offers a challenging and rewarding place in which to undertake a pupilage.
We hope that you would have taken the opportunity to explore other areas of our site and to see the areas of work in which we frequently undertake and specialize.
We offer a unique mix of contentious and non-contentious practice areas. The areas that we specialize and the numerous reported cases in the media and legal journals speak about our greatest strengths. We structure our pupilages in such a way to give our pupils the best possible insight into the firm’s areas of specialization.
Our pupilage supervisors are drawn from across the range of practice areas, and the opportunity to sit with our supervisors in the course of nine months pupilage gives our pupils the opportunity to not only follow the different personalities but experience different areas of the law.
We also ensure that our pupils are given the opportunity not just to experience the professional life of an advocate and solicitor vicariously but to practice in their own right, once short called, for mentions and minor hearings. This also contributes to their invaluable experience and preparation for the future.
We expect a great deal of our pupils and expect them to be ambitious from the very start of their pupilage. In return, we expect that they should be suitably compensated, and offer a generous pupilage award. The award would include a competitive remuneration and allowance; subsidies for registration and filing fees with the Malaysian Bar Council and the High Court in regards to admission to the Malaysian Bar; and attendance fees for courses conducted by the Malaysian Bar Council in relation to its pupilage program.
We pride ourselves on our friendliness and approachability as a law firm, and we believe that this attitude is reflected in the experience of our pupils. Moreover, whilst our pupils work hard during the day, we do not expect them to work late into the night or at weekends.
All pupilage applications should include the following:

  • LLB examinations results (with academic transcripts) & Certificate of Legal Practice or Bar Vocational Course certificates (with academic transcripts)
  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM), O-Level, IGCSE or A-level certificates
  • Prizes or scholarships awarded (if any)
  • Extracurricular activities and positions held (if any)
  • Availability period

We are an equal opportunities employer and firmly believe that academic results do not always reflect the best pupilage candidates.
Our pupils also need to be “street-smart” and be able to “think out of the box” to be able to provide solutions to meet our clients’ expectations. Candidates should also take this into consideration when applying for a pupilage with us.

BSB & Co. offers attachment opportunities throughout the year. We strongly believe that an insight into the legal profession is essential for anyone wanting to embark on a successful legal career. We have found that this is the best way in which potential applicants for pupilage can make an informed assessment of whether they would suit our firm and whether the firm would suit them.
During the course of the attachment, successful candidates will avail themselves of the opportunity to shadow our partners and associates to various court proceedings, including trials and appeals in the High Court and the appellate courts. Successful candidates will also have early exposure on different areas of the law and notable cases that members of the firm are working on at that period of time. You may also be tasked with carrying out research work and have the opportunity to get an insight into the daily operation of a law firm.
Potential applicants are encouraged to have excellent academic records, that are based on past examination results, including the first and second year undergraduate results. Applicants should also possess interpersonal skills and be fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Applicants will be asked to submit in writing, telling us why they are applying for an attachment.
Attachments usually last between one to two weeks.
Kindly send us your curriculum vitae to applications@bsbharco.com.
