Pupillage Opportunities

Brijnandan Singh Bhar & Co offers a challenging and rewarding place in which to undertake a pupilage.

We hope that you would have taken the opportunity to explore other areas of our site and to see the areas of work in which we frequently undertake and specialize.

We offer a unique mix of contentious and non-contentious practice areas.

The areas that we specialize and the numerous reported cases in the media and legal journals speak about our greatest strengths.

We structure our pupilages in such a way to give our pupils the best possible insight into the firm’s areas of specialization.

Our pupilage supervisors are drawn from across the range of practice areas, and the opportunity to sit with our supervisors in the course of nine months pupilage gives our pupils the opportunity to not only follow the different personalities but experience different areas of the law.

We also ensure that our pupils are given the opportunity not just to experience the professional life of an advocate and solicitor vicariously but to practice in their own right, once short called, for mentions and minor hearings. This also contributes to their invaluable experience and preparation for the future.

We expect a great deal of our pupils and expect them to be ambitious from the very start of their pupilage. In return, we expect that they should be suitably compensated, and offer a generous pupilage award. The award would include a competitive remuneration and allowance; subsidies for registration and filing fees with the Malaysian Bar Council and the High Court in regards to admission to the Malaysian Bar; and attendance fees for courses conducted by the Malaysian Bar Council in relation to its pupilage program.

We pride ourselves on our friendliness and approachability as a law firm, and we believe that this attitude is reflected in the experience of our pupils. Moreover, whilst our pupils work hard during the day, we do not expect them to work late into the night or at weekends.

All pupilage applications should include the following:

  • LLB examinations results (with academic transcripts) & Certificate of Legal Practice or Bar Vocational Course certificates (with academic transcripts)
  • SijilPelajaran Malaysia (SPM), SijilTinggiPelajaran Malaysia (STPM), O-Level, IGCSE or A-level certificates
  • Prizes or scholarships awarded (if any)
  • Extracurricular activities and positions held (if any)
  • Availability period

We are an equal opportunities employer and firmly believe that academic results do not always reflect the best pupilage candidates.

Our pupils also need to be “street-smart” and be able to “think out of the box” to be able to provide solutions to meet our clients’ expectations. Candidates should also take this into consideration when applying for a pupilage with us.

Kindly send us your curriculum vitae to applications@bsbharco.com or use our online application form below.
